The Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB) - India is taking part in the 14th Annual SATTE, the Travel and Tourism Exchange between 19th April 2007 and 22nd April 2007 in New Delhi. SATTE OPENWORLD is South Asia's biggest travel and tourism exchange held in India every year where JTB will focus on the pristine beaches of Jamaica as the theme.
Jamaica is one of the most alluring islands of the Caribbean. The high mountains, numerous waterfalls and the abundance of trees and flowering plants across the island earn the island the title "land of wood and water". The year round tropical climate makes Jamaica an ideal travel vacation for tourists seeking to soak in the sun, sand, sea and song.
The quintessential land "One Love-Jamaica" presents a magnificent palette of colors, a kaleidoscope of beauty that makes the island the most precious jewel in the Caribbean. Resting on a bed of volcanic rock and porous limestone, interspersed with inland waterways and fertile jungles, surrounded by rich aquatic wildlife, Jamaica's offers exotic coffee and cuisine, friendly people, frantic cities and the rock-steady rhythm of its music - this is Jamaica's identity. It is a land of unique experiences, breathtaking landscapes and a warm, welcoming people.
Grab the excitement of holing up in a mountain retreat before heading to the coast via a Class I ride down the Rio Grande River aboard hand-made bamboo rafts. Negril Beach or Ocho Rios Resort offer miles of sun and sand for the more hedonistic. For the ones looking for a little seclusion, they do not have to look far as that can easily be found along their own beachside bungalow on the North Shore. Jamaica is, after all, one of the prize jewels in the crown of Caribbean honeymoon spots.
Beaches in Jamaica are the closest thing to heaven on earth. Here is a preview of few.
Kingston Area
Lime Cay is a gorgeous area for bathing and water sports just outside of Kingston.
Ocho Rios
Two of the most popular beaches in Jamaica are Turtle Beach and Mallard Beach. Both are perfect for tourists with plenty of food, fun activities and fellow visitors. Accomodation is no problem as there are several hotels situated on the waterfront. Check out the famous James Bond Beach, which is home to the Golden Eye Hotel. The hotel was the former residence of James Bond writer Ian Fleming. Water sports rentals are available, which make for a perfect trip for those James Bond fans who dream of their own exciting ride at this site, where the movie Dr. No was filmed.
Dunn's River Beach , located under the famous Dunn's River Waterfalls, where the Dunn's River meets the Caribbean Sea is amazing visual splendor.
Negril
Seven Mile Beach, famous for being a favorite hot spot of the 1960's hippie movement, is home to a care-free, laid-back environment that includes nude bathing. Although it was once an idyllic retreat into natural Jamaica, now this area is more of a tourist attraction than a hippie retreat.
Montego Bay
For the more clothing-conscious or for visitors with children, Montego Bay offers several appropriate beaches. Cornwall Beach is lively and happening, offering a variety of concessions and water-sport activities. Walter Fletcher Beach is guarded from the surf, and with calmer waters this beach is recommended for a visit with children.
MoBay's most famous bathing spot, Doctor's Cove Beach, was founded in 1906 when a group of doctors banded together to bathe here.
