All India, 17th July, 2007: In its effort to promote Jamaica in the Indian Sub-Continent, Jamaica Tourist Board organized its maiden Travel Agent Familiarization trip from 25th June to 4th July 2007. The FAM was organized keeping in mind the various aspects of the beautiful island which would be of interest to the Indian Travel trade & ultimately potential travelers. The travelers' itinerary for the said trip included site inspection of some of the best known Resorts and Hotels spread over acres of land. Properties visited were an ideal mix of Family or Couples only / Adults only resorts.

Each resort boasts of its pristine beaches, state-of-the-art amenities and ever so hospitable staff. Most of the resorts offer all-inclusive packages including all meals at their restaurants, unlimited drinks, room service, land and water sports, fitness center, Kids care, Medical facilities etc. Ten leading travel agents from key Indian cities dealing in Group and FIT business were selected as the participants for this FAM trip.

The journey to explore the beautiful and diverse regions of Jamaica began on 26th June'07 with energetic, stunning and exciting Montego Bay "The Complete Resort". Jamaica's second-largest city is embraced by turquoise waters, white beaches and an endless variety of restaurants & attractions and one of the most modern in the Caribbean. The group had a thrilling experience riding a stunning horse down to the palm-fringed beach and eventually into the turquoise blue water; an activity they found unique to Jamaica.

The Journey continued through Ocho Rios "The Centerpiece of Jamaica", where heaven spills into the sea. Ochi' has all you need for an ideal Caribbean vacation: fun and excitement magically blended with rest and relaxation, modern luxuries embraced by astoundingly beautiful natural settings. In Ochi' the group also had an absolutely breathtaking experience climbing the World famous Dunn's River Waterfall from the foot of the beach and gradually moving up the rocks. While climbing the fall, the group stopped and enjoyed the cool plunge pools formed naturally in the river rocks.

The Group then headed to Kingston, Jamaica's capital city and cultural center with the largest natural harbor in the Caribbean (and seventh-largest in the world). Kingston bustles with a robust vibrancy, fitting of the island's political, economic and social centre. Being in Jamaica the land of Reggae music and home to the legendary Bob Marley, one cannot miss a visit to Bob Marley Museum in Kingston. The group visited the Marley Museum, which was his residence earlier, and now rests numerous awards and accolades that Marley received in his lifetime and continues to receive posthumously.

The group then departed for Negril via South Coast. There's treasure to be found on this less-traveled coast. A natural feast for the senses, it is home to wild things and wild places. Reveal Jamaica's diamond in the rough. En Route the group went for Black River Safari and enjoyed the sail through the thick mangroves around the river and also sighted some crocodiles.

The wonderful & splendid journey ended at Negril "The Capital of Casuals". A vibe - carefree, cool and casual - teams up with mesmerizing cliffs and miles of white sand, luring you into relaxation. Negril is not place, but a state of mind. This first-ever initiative was well-appreciated by the travel agents.
